Laquisha Lont joins the U.S. State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program

Our Head of Local Content and Training is in the United States with the IVLP, studying how other economies approach local content, supplier development and workforce readiness.

We are pleased to share that Laquisha Lont, our Head of Local Content and Training, is currently in the United States participating in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) of the U.S. Department of State, under the theme "Advancing U.S. and Global Economic Prosperity."

The program provides an opportunity to engage with U.S. institutions, businesses, economic development organizations, universities, financial institutions and innovation ecosystems, exploring different approaches to economic development, entrepreneurship, investment, workforce development, innovation and competitiveness.

For us, this experience is particularly relevant as Suriname enters an important new phase in the development of its oil and gas sector.

Laquisha's participation provides an opportunity to gain insights into how other economies approach local content development, supplier development, workforce readiness, innovation, private-sector collaboration and value chain development around major industrial and economic developments.

As Suriname's energy sector continues to evolve, the opportunity extends beyond oil and gas production itself. It is about strengthening the broader ecosystem around the sector: creating opportunities for local businesses, developing the workforce, strengthening service providers and building stronger connections across the supply chain.

Through her role, Laquisha will draw on these experiences to further contribute to our work in local content and training, and support the development of a more capable, connected and competitive local value chain.

We look forward to seeing these international perspectives translated into meaningful opportunities and partnerships for Suriname.

Learning from global ecosystems. Connecting with new partners. Building local capacity. Creating value for Suriname.
