Suriname's first offshore development wells are scheduled to start next month.
Noble's fleet status report of 26 October 2026 lists the two rigs contracted for TotalEnergies' GranMorgu project in Block 58, the drillship Noble Valiant and the semi-submersible Noble Discoverer, starting work in Suriname in December 2026. Each is contracted for 16 wells, about 1,060 days, running to the fourth quarter of 2029. First oil is still planned for 2028.
Suriname sits next to Guyana in the same basin. GranMorgu is its first offshore development, about $12 billion, with first oil planned for 2028.
Two rigs for three years means steady work on shore, not only at sea: supply boats, crew changes, warehousing, waste, catering, inspection and repairs. Much of that can be done by Surinamese firms. Staatsolie already has an expression of interest open for customs, freight and inland transport services, and the operator's contractors buy from registered suppliers. The work on shore is being awarded now, not in 2028.
